 | They say there's one born every
minute. Scott was the one. He'd been thinking about getting a dog on and
off for several years, and had even auditioned a few at the pound. None
struck his fancy. But it was the
Purina Dog Decision Guide website that persuaded him that a
West Highland White Terrier was the dog for him. Westies are good
apartment dogs with promiscuously outgoing personalities. And they're
cute as hell. |

So on
July 4 weekend of the year 1999, Scott schlepped his friend Ed - who
couldn't figure out a graceful way to decline - on a three-hour drive to
rural Virginia. Only Farfel and his sister were left of the original
litter, and Scott spent about an hour trying to decide which puppy to
adopt. Ed voted for the female, which goes to show how much he knows.
Scott made the right choice, and Farfel was off on his first car ride -
to Washington. |
