But what did Farfel really know about
this Scott character?
|
 |
Well, for starters,
the poor guy had never had a dog before,
so
he really didn't have any idea what to expect. For that matter, he
hadn't even had a roommate in recent memory, so he was a bit set in his
ways. Make that VERY set in his ways. And definitely also a bit
sedentary. |
|
 |
 | Plus, he had a very neat apartment with everything in its place and
a place for everything. But
Farfel, as you can imagine, changed all that. He pretty much took over
the hapless Scott's life. And cost him a small fortune
in the process! |

|
 |
In case you were
wondering, Scott named his new puppy for
Farfel the Dog,
the Irish Setter puppet who appeared on TV with ventriloquist Jimmy
Nelson and companion Danny O'Day in the '50s. It was Farfel who
sang the Nestlé's Quik "chaaaaw-klit" jingle. You can
see it here or listen to it here. |
|
 |
|
 |
But
that isn't all. "Farfel" also has other meanings. It is the Yiddish word
for small, broken-up pieces of matzo or pasta. And if you spell it a
little differently, it's Italian for bow tie-shaped pasta made with
semolina. |
